Refuge International Prayer Guide

Keeping you informed on how to pray for the Refuge community

Praises

  • For nearly 150 who turned out for our 2nd annual Ministry Support Dinner--and for financial support that surpassed last year!

  • For our ninth COFFEE site which started last month on the campus of Ormsby Heights Baptist Church.

  • For the amazing soccer ministry that is happening on the pitch at Antioch Church. Through partnership with other local churches, children of various nationalities are learning how to play soccer and hearing the Good News!

Iraqi People of Louisville

  • For years, Iraq has been a place of conflict and fear. In 2003, the US-led invasion of Iraq unsettled the country as forces searched for and eventually captured Saddam Hussein. This uprooted 1 in every 25 Iraqis in the country (source). Not even a decade later, in 2014, greater pandemonium stormed through Iraq as attacks from the Islamic State (ISIS) intensified in the northern part of the country. Due to the danger and destruction, the country’s framework unraveled and millions of families were forced to flee (source). Louisville is now home to several of these Iraqi families. Many of them have lived here for years, and now are US citizens. These families are warm and tight-knit, despite all that they have been through.  Let’s pray that the Lord, who sovereignly used the worst of circumstances to move them across the world, would meet them as they reside here.

Petitions

  • Shannon Vickery and others from the women's ministry at Bethany Baptist Church as they pioneer the "Welcome Basket" endeavor in the month of October by delivering welcome baskets to ten newly-arrived refugee families settling in various apartments in Launch Properties' Villages of Hikes Point.

  • Pray that more churches can join this effort in the New Year across other Launch Properties.

  • Pray for our upcoming annual fall team retreat that God would bless our time for increased fellowship and unity and that God would pour out His Holy Spirit on us so that we may rightly discern that to which He would have us put our minds, hearts, and hands in 2024.

Thank you for interceding with us,

The Refuge Staff Team
